Church boy!...April 15, 2012

We are all writers in some way. As long as we can think. even if it aint productive.

As we pass through life, we create lessons that the world can learn from. yes, some good, others bad but there's always something to learn.

What a day! (April 15, 2012)

I'm a church boy. I've known that for a while now. That's my charging point. There are times I feel weighed down, not just me(the normal me), and then after the church service, I'm all this whoo whoo whoo. Today, a sunday and its been  4 or 5 weeks I went to my home church last. As usual, service was great but then with a new dimension. Let's start from the beginning. As usual. maybe not usual but most times, there'll be something to look for that will make the others wait for me at the car(i get to drive them to church). Mum already waiting in the car, my sisters, Tunde ans seun who came to spend the weekend. Anyway, I got to the car and off we went for service. If you have to attend church at a location about 30km away from your home, never mind, it'll take a lot for the whole crew to leave you. We still attend a church we used to attend when we lived on the Island proper. The Foursquare Gospel Church.

Today happened to be the grand finale of the Youth week and my first attendance since it started on Tuesday. why? My thoughts...distance and.....project. I sat at a seat behind the choristers after the Sunday School which happened to be wonderful though I was sort of distracted by a bugging mind. I still gained some things though, whenever a bible verse was called, I read with intensity and it happened to be simplified using the international Children Bible I carried (It belongs to my Wunmi [my sister] ). I read them with a different intensity and i still have them up here("ori mi"). Matt 5:31..The beautitides. We discussed the community of values ranging from righteousness, meekness....you'll find it there. I then went up to a chair awating the beginning of the service proper and something else dropped in my mind, i had to scribble them all fast. I thought of what I had learnt througout the past especially during the Spiritual week of Emphasis(A three day programme at a zonal centre of the Living Faith Church). What was needed for empowerment?
And I answered them all.

1. You've got to have the Holyspirit
2. Prayer. A prayerful life.
3. The Fear of the Lord. In all that concerns you
4. Fasting. Very essential, its keeps the body under...
5. Witnessing... Tell others about christ
6. A godly character. I remember a saying back then in C.U. It goes like this..Two things are essential in achieving....probably success or something else in life and the man was like ..Strategy and character..but if you must be without any, be without strategy. A good character surpasses strategy.

I enjoyed the songs delivrered by the choir. T'was awesome. 2 special numnbers I hadn't heard before. We stood up from our seats(the youths). Before i go on, might i add that i got to seat not on the seat behind the choir but was pulled out by one of the coordinators to seat on the right side of the church and then to an executive chair meant for the deacons. I said me! the man said "yes, Its your day, it was reserved for the youths and i gently took the seat. Though it took quite some minutes to adjust to seating there. Emi naa!

Augustina(a youth in the church) ministered and it was awesome, sure people were blessed and in my opinion she probably stepped on toes as she sadi it all, she just kept saying it on and on and on. We gave thanksgiving and this day, I decided to use only one envelope for offering(we use about 2 offering envelopes). Not of the school of though of having to divide the money into 2 envelopes. though my siblings say it's bad to drop an empty envelope. I feel its the same, If i give a certain amount, and you do the same, It doesnt matter if they are in 5 envelopes or 1. As i was saying before...She ministered in a great way. Sure the hand of God was on her after several prayers. At the end of her message "Make you life count", I wondered whether to pursue my 5-a-side competition especially when the Gulder brand is in charge with me not supproting alcoholic drinks. Guess I'll drop it. Got a lot of story to tell guys I've called up.

The day didnt end this way but I'll stop here. got more stories to create. Lets live on with every minute counting.

Love & More - Act 1

Right from the first day I saw you, I was drawn to you. Not love at first sight, but an attraction that I still cherish today after 13 years.  I still remember the many walks we took when we started talking. My-o-my, I loved talking with you. I still do. Maybe I was listening more, now that I think of it. The one thing I recall was you made it easy to talk and thinking of the walks between White House (Engineering Building) and Computer science Building including other locations within the Obafemi Awolowo University community? Still cherish them. You have come to show me another part of life, completing me in areas I am not as strong. Still a journey for me but I cherish the process even though I sometimes react to the adjustments. I cherish the results though. I love it when you are happy. When you smile (even at my dry jokes). I love it when you excel at the things you do. formal and informal.  I appreciate your thoughtfulness to things. I guess it comes with you being so st...

Love & More - Act 2

It has been a while we had the movie night. We have some history with movie nights I must say. From the times in Akure, Lagos and now, Amstelveen.  Whenever we watch, it exciting. I enjoyed the action movies and then the love ones. I enjoy all of it anyway cos we watch together. the taking it back so you understand better is not so fun for me sha..me i have moved on in cases like that.....but anyways, i agree with you.......better to understand the context. When did we start watching movies together?   Before we got married I guess. I guess this was in Lagos before I took the job with BEDC. Not sure if we watched any on our own or always with Bukky and Busayo. But anyways..the history was formed. Cinemas. one thing I loved about Igbatoro, Akure was the Filmhouse Cinemas at the Akure Mall.  and then those cozy evening when we did nothing but watch a move together. Do you always stay up when we watch? Now I have to write that you might stay up with the first movie but...

The Many Walks with Kiity

Ever heard of the benefits of 30 minutes walk everyday?  I bet you have. Walking is a great way to improve or maintain our overall health. Just 30 minutes every make a change in your life. I took a walk for 1 hour once and I felt the effects. It was about 8km in all and I could feel my legs tingling when I finished. The next day, the muscles spoke and I was happy.  Kiity and I enjoy taking lots of walks. We did that a lot in Nigeria both individually and together. I enjoy it more when we do it together. Since we arrived the Netherlands in April this year, we have had several walks and I enjoy it more when we do it together.   Walking over a small bridge, De Poel, Amstelveen I decide to take walks for many reasons;  - To exercise. - To clear my head and away from the familiar - To see the environment and new places. - To breathe a different air. The most important is to talk. This is when I do it with Kiity. We have to talk about something as we go.  W...
