Lessons from the HusbandMan Course - Day 1

Getting me to sign up for the Husbandman course took a stretch. I had questions on my mind and thoughts of not being the target audience in this case. Don't blame me, as I have followed Kingsley Okonkwo's teachings for a while now. If I recall well, I have been following for the past 13 years. I have heard a lot, learnt a lot, copied a lot and seen some weird things he said through the scriptures come to pass. Now the Ijebu side of me was triggered by some pre-video session that was done, where some discount was given. Why not give it a try I thought? And I did.  So the course started today and what did I learn? Two major things.   1. The importance of a man having a relationship with God.  2. The importance of a woman in the life of a man. Here I mean a man having a wife.  3. As a man, you are called to be a leader in the home and not the provider. In some climes, it is unheard of to stand by item 3. Don't get me wrong, you will provide as you lead, but you are...

The Journey to 85 in 2025

Really? 85 by Dec 2025?  Now I am talking about my weight. In the past 2 years, I have added more weight than I did between age 30 and 37. It seems the metabolism gets slower when you get older I think. However, during a 1 hour session with a health and lifestyle coach, she mentioned this is not the case. Not sure if she referred to my age though.   Now I weigh 97.3kg early in the morning. A year ago before moving to the Netherlands, I weighed 89kg. This is over 8kg in a year. wow! what have I been eating? Here is a recent picture I took today. I would focus on my face here. It really looks bigger than it was last year. Getting to 85kg by Dec 2025 would mean losing 12kg. How does this work?  My conversation with the lifestyle coach came down to a few things. I mentioned these ones myself - actions I planned to take. 1. Reduce the eating of biscuits. 2. Reduce the sugar intake 3. Walk more. 4. Run a 4K once or twice in a week. (Monday evenings and Saturday morni...

Love & More - Act 4

Picture taken by Kiity after a 9km walk We added to the history of walking today. The most I consider we have done together - 9Km. Actually more than 9km but let's use the 9-limit today.   Courtesy the CU Alumni walking challenge in March 2025, I took walking to another level. and Yes, you can say I carried....or should I use dragged...Kiity along with me.  One of our many walks was at the Cherry Blossom park...Here is a picture in February 2025.  26th February 2025.  And then, another picture taken in late March 2025.  It had blossomed as at 27th March 2025.                                         The walks could be through the Amsterdam Bos or around the Amstelveen Poel. I was contemplating walking to Aalsmeer. Kiity pulled back on this one.   It is always amazing to take the walks with you. I seem to come alive when we do this and can talk...

Love & More - Act 3

image borrowed from floralpetalsofwestchester.com It was Kiity's birthday. And I started thinking.   Now the Ijebu me was thinking of the phone we recently decided to buy and that it was enough for a birthday gift. It was a little struggle but then I realised we both decided to buy that phone and I could make a difference by still doing something thoughtful for Kiity.  If I was to back-track a little bit. Kiity had always been the gift-giver. And like they say, you are prone to easily do what you would like to receive. I still recall one of my birthdays at MainOne in the Saka Tinubu office where I was keeping the whole birthday thing on a low-key. And then, came a gift box and some other items for me. This spoilt my low-key birthday spree as most people got to know it was my birthday.  Now back to Kiity. I know she likes to have a special day. However, I don't think I really made her birthdays since 2017 special, till 2023 when we started having some timeouts....

Love & More - Act 2

It has been a while we had the movie night. We have some history with movie nights I must say. From the times in Akure, Lagos and now, Amstelveen.  Whenever we watch, it exciting. I enjoyed the action movies and then the love ones. I enjoy all of it anyway cos we watch together. the taking it back so you understand better is not so fun for me sha..me i have moved on in cases like that.....but anyways, i agree with you.......better to understand the context. When did we start watching movies together?   Before we got married I guess. I guess this was in Lagos before I took the job with BEDC. Not sure if we watched any on our own or always with Bukky and Busayo. But anyways..the history was formed. Cinemas. one thing I loved about Igbatoro, Akure was the Filmhouse Cinemas at the Akure Mall.  and then those cozy evening when we did nothing but watch a move together. Do you always stay up when we watch? Now I have to write that you might stay up with the first movie but...

Love & More - Act 1

Right from the first day I saw you, I was drawn to you. Not love at first sight, but an attraction that I still cherish today after 13 years.  I still remember the many walks we took when we started talking. My-o-my, I loved talking with you. I still do. Maybe I was listening more, now that I think of it. The one thing I recall was you made it easy to talk and thinking of the walks between White House (Engineering Building) and Computer science Building including other locations within the Obafemi Awolowo University community? Still cherish them. You have come to show me another part of life, completing me in areas I am not as strong. Still a journey for me but I cherish the process even though I sometimes react to the adjustments. I cherish the results though. I love it when you are happy. When you smile (even at my dry jokes). I love it when you excel at the things you do. formal and informal.  I appreciate your thoughtfulness to things. I guess it comes with you being so st...

Finished the TCS Marathon Good Morning City Run

A Group Photo - Ran with this group Finished the 6.5km run!  And I am happy to have done this one month after the 8km Dam tot Dam loop run. It allowed me put the running shoes to work again. I had only run once after the Dam tot Dam loop 8km run and was already feeling out of shape. Met Thibault during the run and snapped the picture above. Had a good conversation with him. We talked almost through the run. Thibault & I taking at the Finish line How was the run?  It was a tourist run. There were different groups of 10 to 15 with 2 guides per team. When I say tourist run, I mean the guides showed us around the Amsterdam area. I also mean we got to stop at different points but not for long - probably 20-30 seconds per time with the longest wait being about 1 minute.  What was I given?  I got no medal. If you want a medal, you need to participate in the races. However, I was given a hand band to signify participation in the tourist run. Also got a ticket for ...
