Love & More - Act 3

It was Kiity's birthday. And I started thinking.

Now the Ijebu me was thinking of the phone we recently decided to buy and that it was enough for a birthday gift. It was a little struggle but then I realised we both decided to buy that phone and I could make a difference by still doing something thoughtful for Kiity.

If I was to back-track a little bit. Kiity had always been the gift-giver. And like they say, you are prone to easily do what you would like to receive. I still recall one of my birthdays at MainOne in the Saka Tinubu office where I was keeping the whole birthday thing on a low-key. And then, came a gift box and some other items for me. This spoilt my low-key birthday spree as most people got to know it was my birthday.

Now back to Kiity. I know she likes to have a special day. However, I don't think I really made her birthdays since 2017 special, till 2023 when we started having some timeouts. Maybe I am unable to recall but I recall two years ago. Kiity turned 34. The pictures below were taken at the Lekki Grandview Hotel.

4th March 2023

Dinner at the Lekki Grandview Hotel Restaurant

Then, it came to 2025. Having gotten the phone, I felt we didn't need to do anything. But then, I realized that there would not be another 4th March 2025. The day is special as Kiity was born this day and if in any way I can make it special, I should. Then the ideas started flooding in; Get a cake, Take her out, just take a walk, buy her something nice - maybe a watch, a dress....I had them playing through. But then, what did I do? It had to be a surprise.

I checked online for a cake and got one with two wine bottles. That was it. I would make up my mind on the restaurant to visit. but then, as I walked home, something mentioned...candles. it had to be lit...I saw the picture in my mind...and I went for it. I made Kiity wake up to a cake with about 8 candles lit by her side with the wine bottles. And then, we went to the Royal san Kong in Amstelveen.

There are many days but there are some days that need to be celebrated. It is not about the days but about the people. It is about appreciating them for who they are, what they have done, what they continue to do and the last impact they leave on you. For Kiity, It is always making me a better Kunle.

A beautiful month in March. I always desire that you do better and shine better than you did in the past, even better than I do. I shine when you shine.

Wishing you many more wonderful years baby. The best is yet to come!

An Open Letter to Kunfaiyeoluwa

I would love to draft a long letter to you. But the thoughts and words captured above say a lot that I want you to carry on for the rest of your life.  You indeed have a legacy to cherish and to build on. Your mum, grand-mums and great-grand-mums are one of the strongest and determined persons I have met and I know the seed lives on in you. Yes, I did come to know them all and I see the foundation you have to lean on. You are Royalty both Spiritually and by Land Origin. 1 Pet 2:9 reminds me of your spiritual royalty and the knowledge that you are of the origin of men who have reigned as Kings in Nigeria both in Kogi and Ondo States. Therefore, let the words scribed above by the Queen of the Southern Nigerian Kingdom bring light to you today and for every other day. I was watching a movie during the past weekend and it showcased a Father who stood by his daughter even when the whole community were against her. I would like you to know that I would be by your side from Day 1 t...

The Journey to 85 (Part 2)

Dont get it twisted. This is still 85kg. Not an age thingy. I woke up this morning to check my weight and it was 95kg on the dot.  This time I was happy. I was happy because i had hit 98.7kg some 4 weeks ago. I also decided to wear a particular shirt and it fit. Now that was something.  Have I been exercising? Or eating eight? The latter. No. The first, maybe. I stumbled on this by error. A friend triggered me to cycle to work and I did. Never mind that I had been saying I would do it as I see several people riding their bicycles all the way to Amsterdam. Anyways, I made the trip and I have been giddy about it since.  I have romanced the use of bus for over a year now that using the bike feels too sweet to use. I get to see other riders along the way and enjoy the view of Amstelveen and Amsterdam.  I should say it is also faster than using the bus sometimes especially if the first bus would be the 357. That takes 40mins for me in all. But with the bike. M...

Dam tot Dam loop Business Run - 5miles or 8km - Done!

Yes, I did. And it was fun. I ran the Dam tot Dam loop Business Run 5Miles. And it was amazing to do this for the first time ever in 2024.  I got to know about the run about 2 months ago during a chat with Jana Reiss and I was interested. I had seen a friend and former line manager at MainOne, Ayomide, run marathons and amass medals from the run. I have also seen another former line manager, Vremudia run a lot including the marathons.  Living in the Netherlands made it easy to join the band wagon. You have roads with a bicycle path and the walk way aside the road for cars. Thus, I loved to joined the band wagon and have now taken part in the first long distance run.  I did the run the 8K in 1:08:10 Hrs. the best runner of the day did it in 25 mins. A pretty long way to get to for me. But I recall in my practice, the first time I did the 8K was 1:15:00 Hrs and the second time 1:09:00 Hrs. So a little improvement but definitely within my plan. I wasn't aiming to be t...
