Yes, I did. And it was fun.
I ran the Dam tot Dam loop Business Run 5Miles. And it was amazing to do this for the first time ever in 2024.
I got to know about the run about 2 months ago during a chat with Jana Reiss and I was interested. I had seen a friend and former line manager at MainOne, Ayomide, run marathons and amass medals from the run. I have also seen another former line manager, Vremudia run a lot including the marathons.
I did the run the 8K in 1:08:10 Hrs. the best runner of the day did it in 25 mins. A pretty long way to get to for me. But I recall in my practice, the first time I did the 8K was 1:15:00 Hrs and the second time 1:09:00 Hrs. So a little improvement but definitely within my plan. I wasn't aiming to be the first or 30th (Maybe next year 😆). My plan was to finish before the 85 minutes clock. This is the time the gates get closed and you do not receive a medal. And I did it in 68 minutes. Here is a video below of my finishing the race.
One other thing to note. The organizers had a way of measuring or rather tracking every runner via the number tag we attach to our shirts. I think I would call that a RFID tag. I looked up the tracking link as see it is always live per race. I also saw that people can check the result of the race over the years on the Le Champion website.
And then over to the Park. We had drinks and had the chit-chat.

Now thinking about the whole thing. It made me more conscious of living a healthy life. And coupled with the fact that my dad and mum now take 6km walks and have spoken about changes in their physical fitness, I want to continue.
I should say I would be running the 6.5km Amsterdam TCS marathon in October 2024. This would hold in the morning period which works well with me. the 8k run has showed me I could do either morning or night anyway.
