Love & More - Act 2

It has been a while we had the movie night. We have some history with movie nights I must say. From the times in Akure, Lagos and now, Amstelveen.  Whenever we watch, it exciting. I enjoyed the action movies and then the love ones. I enjoy all of it anyway cos we watch together. the taking it back so you understand better is not so fun for me sha..me i have moved on in cases like that.....but anyways, i agree with you.......better to understand the context. When did we start watching movies together?   Before we got married I guess. I guess this was in Lagos before I took the job with BEDC. Not sure if we watched any on our own or always with Bukky and Busayo. But anyways..the history was formed. Cinemas. one thing I loved about Igbatoro, Akure was the Filmhouse Cinemas at the Akure Mall.  and then those cozy evening when we did nothing but watch a move together. Do you always stay up when we watch? Now I have to write that you might stay up with the first movie but...

Love & More - Act 1

Right from the first day I saw you, I was drawn to you. Not love at first sight, but an attraction that I still cherish today after 13 years.  I still remember the many walks we took when we started talking. My-o-my, I loved talking with you. I still do. Maybe I was listening more, now that I think of it. The one thing I recall was you made it easy to talk and thinking of the walks between White House (Engineering Building) and Computer science Building including other locations within the Obafemi Awolowo University community? Still cherish them. You have come to show me another part of life, completing me in areas I am not as strong. Still a journey for me but I cherish the process even though I sometimes react to the adjustments. I cherish the results though. I love it when you are happy. When you smile (even at my dry jokes). I love it when you excel at the things you do. formal and informal.  I appreciate your thoughtfulness to things. I guess it comes with you being so st...

Finished the TCS Marathon Good Morning City Run

A Group Photo - Ran with this group Finished the 6.5km run!  And I am happy to have done this one month after the 8km Dam tot Dam loop run. It allowed me put the running shoes to work again. I had only run once after the Dam tot Dam loop 8km run and was already feeling out of shape. Met Thibault during the run and snapped the picture above. Had a good conversation with him. We talked almost through the run. Thibault & I taking at the Finish line How was the run?  It was a tourist run. There were different groups of 10 to 15 with 2 guides per team. When I say tourist run, I mean the guides showed us around the Amsterdam area. I also mean we got to stop at different points but not for long - probably 20-30 seconds per time with the longest wait being about 1 minute.  What was I given?  I got no medal. If you want a medal, you need to participate in the races. However, I was given a hand band to signify participation in the tourist run. Also got a ticket for ...

The Many Walks with Kiity

Ever heard of the benefits of 30 minutes walk everyday?  I bet you have. Walking is a great way to improve or maintain our overall health. Just 30 minutes every make a change in your life. I took a walk for 1 hour once and I felt the effects. It was about 8km in all and I could feel my legs tingling when I finished. The next day, the muscles spoke and I was happy.  Kiity and I enjoy taking lots of walks. We did that a lot in Nigeria both individually and together. I enjoy it more when we do it together. Since we arrived the Netherlands in April this year, we have had several walks and I enjoy it more when we do it together.   Walking over a small bridge, De Poel, Amstelveen I decide to take walks for many reasons;  - To exercise. - To clear my head and away from the familiar - To see the environment and new places. - To breathe a different air. The most important is to talk. This is when I do it with Kiity. We have to talk about something as we go.  W...

So We Do Not Forget (SWDNF) Stories

I have decided to document stories of God's acts in my life going forward. Please note that I might not document all the stories but would try my best to write the most I can.  I recall watching a YouTube Video on the Lakewood church last week and the speaker, a lady mentioned writing our God stories. I had a lot of stories to tell but then I would not call it God stories but 'So we do not forget'. I recall sending a link to Kiity of one of the topic on this blog and we realized how much history we had documented here and have actually forgotten.  This is my reason to do the SWDNF. It's not going to be a popular acronym as it does not spark an immediate connection. However, I do not aim for it to be popular as always. God has been Good.

SWDNF2: Praising God delivered Kiity and I

Yes. It did. I woke up this morning and remembered a scene in a movie series called Abattoir, where some fellowship students were praising God and their fellow student was raised back to life. I immediately remembered an occurrence in our life. Probably two strange ones come to mind. But this one first. It was in April 2018. I had recently resigned from BEDC and would have to leave the BEDC training school where I doubled as the BEDC Power systems School training coordinator and Technical assistant to the South West Regional head of BEDC. I had to leave the Elizade University environment where we held the training courses. I drove in a Kia Rio 2014 with Kiity and were on the way to Alagbaka in Akure where our house was.  On the way, just by FUTA gate, some undocumented local government billers who looked like riff-raffs stopped us and put road blockers on the way. The car we drove in was partly private and partly owned by the bank. They mentioned that since the bank's name was on t...

Dam tot Dam loop Business Run - 5miles or 8km - Done!

Yes, I did. And it was fun. I ran the Dam tot Dam loop Business Run 5Miles. And it was amazing to do this for the first time ever in 2024.  I got to know about the run about 2 months ago during a chat with Jana Reiss and I was interested. I had seen a friend and former line manager at MainOne, Ayomide, run marathons and amass medals from the run. I have also seen another former line manager, Vremudia run a lot including the marathons.  Living in the Netherlands made it easy to join the band wagon. You have roads with a bicycle path and the walk way aside the road for cars. Thus, I loved to joined the band wagon and have now taken part in the first long distance run.  I did the run the 8K in 1:08:10 Hrs. the best runner of the day did it in 25 mins. A pretty long way to get to for me. But I recall in my practice, the first time I did the 8K was 1:15:00 Hrs and the second time 1:09:00 Hrs. So a little improvement but definitely within my plan. I wasn't aiming to be t...
