Great men.

What a day!

There are blessings in life we miss. When I say blessings we miss, I talk of people we take for granted. They do certain things and we don't appreciate them for it. They could be family or just friends.

I've got a friend that's been a blessing in my life. I call him a great man. I guess i could say he's like a sketch pen that colours the lives of those around him. He's not only been kind to me but to others around which makes him unique. His name is Osemwegie Omoruyi. If you ever meet him, say a big THANK YOU to him for me.

Today, I couldn't find my wallet before church(and time was running out). I had to collect some amount i needed for tithe from him (I was going to find my wallet later anyway). He gave me and even paid for the fare(he does this normally, just trying to say that's not the point). Service was fun and WISDOM filled. Then I had to wait for a meeting afterwards and there was no change for him to give me. He had other stuffs to do but chose to wait for the whole period of the meeting(It took a while I can tell you). it might be nothing to him as he sacrifices a lot for people but hey! on my blog, I recognise. Did I mention he was the one who gave me the newspaper with the Fidelity Bank creative writing workshop. he didn't write but I did (he know I have some flair for writing). I wrote and was nominated. he also knows I have a passion for the power industry and has not failed in giving me relevant information from time to time, the last been the Lagos State power project which required about 10 electrical engineers. I applied. I didn't hear from them.

There was this day, a roommate was having his defence here in OAU. The external examiner needed a car to take him around the campus at least to his hotel and back. He handled this, getting a car thru a friend and all and all(I'm sure the roommate is still grateful till today).

A story I wont like to forget in a hurry is the N30,000 allowance we had as corp members back then. He gave it all as a sacrifice to the NCCF and was just left with some change for transport. This guy sha, I can't tell it all. Got to work. but this is just a tip of the iceberg(as far as I can write now).

If you ever get to know him, please drop a note. you'll sure agree with me that He's a great man.

The Vacation Idea

Kiity and I differ on this. What is a vacation? What is a retreat? Kiity made me think of retreat. To me, every time away from work is a vacation. This is my simple definition.  I recall when I was studying. The same definition applied. Anytime away from school is a vacation. When the school is not in session, we are on vacation. The same has applied to my work life.  But Kiity sees it differently. She had to google this and the AI overview gave the feedback below: A vacation is primarily for relaxation and fun, while a retreat focuses on personal growth, self-reflection, and often includes structured activities aimed at improving well-being Kiity is right by this definition. I have told her.  In my own world, it seems definitions are simple and when adhered to, makes my life simple. Where did all this come from? It came from a post Kiity made on Polarsteps about "our first Family Vacation". I looked at it and said we had done a lot of vacations in the past based o...

An Open Letter to Kunfaiyeoluwa

I would love to draft a long letter to you. But the thoughts and words captured above say a lot that I want you to carry on for the rest of your life.  You indeed have a legacy to cherish and to build on. Your mum, grand-mums and great-grand-mums are one of the strongest and determined persons I have met and I know the seed lives on in you. Yes, I did come to know them all and I see the foundation you have to lean on. You are Royalty both Spiritually and by Land Origin. 1 Pet 2:9 reminds me of your spiritual royalty and the knowledge that you are of the origin of men who have reigned as Kings in Nigeria both in Kogi and Ondo States. Therefore, let the words scribed above by the Queen of the Southern Nigerian Kingdom bring light to you today and for every other day. I was watching a movie during the past weekend and it showcased a Father who stood by his daughter even when the whole community were against her. I would like you to know that I would be by your side from Day 1 t...

The Many Walks with Kiity

Ever heard of the benefits of 30 minutes walk everyday?  I bet you have. Walking is a great way to improve or maintain our overall health. Just 30 minutes every make a change in your life. I took a walk for 1 hour once and I felt the effects. It was about 8km in all and I could feel my legs tingling when I finished. The next day, the muscles spoke and I was happy.  Kiity and I enjoy taking lots of walks. We did that a lot in Nigeria both individually and together. I enjoy it more when we do it together. Since we arrived the Netherlands in April this year, we have had several walks and I enjoy it more when we do it together.   Walking over a small bridge, De Poel, Amstelveen I decide to take walks for many reasons;  - To exercise. - To clear my head and away from the familiar - To see the environment and new places. - To breathe a different air. The most important is to talk. This is when I do it with Kiity. We have to talk about something as we go.  W...
