Training at Ondo

Whew! I don't get to write as often as I want to these days. Got a lot to say. And I have a short time to say them.

Today, I worked on a computer system all through. I was learning Microsoft Excel through the New Horizon's Learning Management System. A module which is part of the classroom training I'm undergoing at Elizade University. Did I just say Elizade University? Yes, I did. And as you might have guessed, I signed it. Didn't complain. Just signed it. And the period of the bond? Three years since last year. I didn't know of that part till the day we signed. and that was last week Saturday.

Let me get back to the MS Excel gist. I attended an interview last year at Schneider Electric. I told the interviewer I knew Excel 100% and then he asked me two questions, and I was wondering if that was part of Excel. It was Vlookup and Hlookup he asked of. You should know by now, that if the two functions were missing in my 100%, then I didn't know anything about MS Excel. Alright, lets just give me 10%.

It's been fun learning about the capabilities of the program, diving deeper each day. Tomorrow will be the last day though, for MS Excel I mean. I guess I'll have to call Mama F to say thank you.

Now the bond. It seems to be a big deal. Some of my colleagues refused to sign. I remember taking the job to know more and to cause a change in the energy sector. Naturally, I did sign. The only thought I didn't have an answer to was how I would do Lagos and Benin or anywhere I'm posted to after the training (This guy has got to see Kiitan).

The Vigeo Power Academy has been challenging so far. We've had experiences we wouldn't forget in a hurry. Boot Camp sessions with soldiers where we had to run over 5km, do killing drills, learn communication strategies and climb trees like monkeys using ropes that we held onto or else the crocodiles would gladly eat us. And then the class sessions that wouldn't let you sleep normally. They shouldn't sleep more than 4 hours, Mr Dee reported at a time. Tests upon tests. I even practised putting out a fire for the first time. And Yes, there was play too....I played a game of Lawn tennis for the first time. Played football also after a very long while. Its been interesting.

The Many Walks with Kiity

Ever heard of the benefits of 30 minutes walk everyday?  I bet you have. Walking is a great way to improve or maintain our overall health. Just 30 minutes every make a change in your life. I took a walk for 1 hour once and I felt the effects. It was about 8km in all and I could feel my legs tingling when I finished. The next day, the muscles spoke and I was happy.  Kiity and I enjoy taking lots of walks. We did that a lot in Nigeria both individually and together. I enjoy it more when we do it together. Since we arrived the Netherlands in April this year, we have had several walks and I enjoy it more when we do it together.   Walking over a small bridge, De Poel, Amstelveen I decide to take walks for many reasons;  - To exercise. - To clear my head and away from the familiar - To see the environment and new places. - To breathe a different air. The most important is to talk. This is when I do it with Kiity. We have to talk about something as we go.  W...

An Open Letter to Kunfaiyeoluwa

I would love to draft a long letter to you. But the thoughts and words captured above say a lot that I want you to carry on for the rest of your life.  You indeed have a legacy to cherish and to build on. Your mum, grand-mums and great-grand-mums are one of the strongest and determined persons I have met and I know the seed lives on in you. Yes, I did come to know them all and I see the foundation you have to lean on. You are Royalty both Spiritually and by Land Origin. 1 Pet 2:9 reminds me of your spiritual royalty and the knowledge that you are of the origin of men who have reigned as Kings in Nigeria both in Kogi and Ondo States. Therefore, let the words scribed above by the Queen of the Southern Nigerian Kingdom bring light to you today and for every other day. I was watching a movie during the past weekend and it showcased a Father who stood by his daughter even when the whole community were against her. I would like you to know that I would be by your side from Day 1 t...

Love & More - Act 2

It has been a while we had the movie night. We have some history with movie nights I must say. From the times in Akure, Lagos and now, Amstelveen.  Whenever we watch, it exciting. I enjoyed the action movies and then the love ones. I enjoy all of it anyway cos we watch together. the taking it back so you understand better is not so fun for me sha..me i have moved on in cases like that.....but anyways, i agree with you.......better to understand the context. When did we start watching movies together?   Before we got married I guess. I guess this was in Lagos before I took the job with BEDC. Not sure if we watched any on our own or always with Bukky and Busayo. But anyways..the history was formed. Cinemas. one thing I loved about Igbatoro, Akure was the Filmhouse Cinemas at the Akure Mall.  and then those cozy evening when we did nothing but watch a move together. Do you always stay up when we watch? Now I have to write that you might stay up with the first movie but...
