He was drunk!

I went for Choir practice last night (this just happens to be 1.34am). Still can't sleep. I survived it. I was on my way back home by 9pm. My brother had called me while I was at Lekki phase 1 to pick him at Ilaje bus-stop, just before the Ajah round-about. The road was clear and doing a 80Km/hr, I got there fast but he had not arrived. I parked by the road side and told him I was waiting. Just two minutes or less, I saw a saloon car coming towards my direction. He hit the car and then off he went some distance away before he came to rest. 'Did this just happen?' my thoughts. It sure did, as reality set in. I turned the ignition and off I went to his side. I noticed I couldn't move as fast as I wanted to. One tyre was down and bent in.

I came out of the vehicle trying to understand the situation. The driver was reluctant to get out of the car. When he did come out, I realised he was drunk. An drunk man hit me?  Yes, he did.

The funny thing is that he escaped(with his leg o) from the hands of the police after my brother had pleaddded (begging Nigerian traffic police to do their job) for them to come handle the situation.

My thoughts. My car isn't in a good shape. How could the Police have helped without saying 'what can I do?'. I never asked them to do anything. All I needed was for them to take the drunk guy away. He had no business driving in his state. He could have killed some people had the car not been parked there. Funny enough, a car had hit some people some metres away this same day.

I marvelled as I watched the guy run away and the Nigerian Policemen chasing after him like buffoons. Actually, they were (not abusing them, they showed it through their words immediately they arrived). Not been able to get him, knowing there would be no source of special income (they would have gotten this from the guy) in the case, they ignored me and left. Wow! Not even a word.

I recalled everything government in my country, Nigeria seems to be in a state of jeopardy. I'm only amazed that its the same people that form the government. Bloody Nigerians. I am too (just with a different kind of mindset).

OH! THOSE CHILDHOOD DREAMS OF BUILDING NANOBOTS, DESTRUCTIVE MACHINES THAT COULD HANDLE ANY SITUATION, and any buffoon if I may add (Not angry at the vehicle or the police but at the way they handled the situation). It could be a set of lives next time. Men, that guy wa drunk. (Funny enough, we lost about 4 lives this week  - some school children in the morning on monday and one adult this evening, thanks to drunk drivers the police would rather not check)

The Many Walks with Kiity

Ever heard of the benefits of 30 minutes walk everyday?  I bet you have. Walking is a great way to improve or maintain our overall health. Just 30 minutes every make a change in your life. I took a walk for 1 hour once and I felt the effects. It was about 8km in all and I could feel my legs tingling when I finished. The next day, the muscles spoke and I was happy.  Kiity and I enjoy taking lots of walks. We did that a lot in Nigeria both individually and together. I enjoy it more when we do it together. Since we arrived the Netherlands in April this year, we have had several walks and I enjoy it more when we do it together.   Walking over a small bridge, De Poel, Amstelveen I decide to take walks for many reasons;  - To exercise. - To clear my head and away from the familiar - To see the environment and new places. - To breathe a different air. The most important is to talk. This is when I do it with Kiity. We have to talk about something as we go.  W...

An Open Letter to Kunfaiyeoluwa

I would love to draft a long letter to you. But the thoughts and words captured above say a lot that I want you to carry on for the rest of your life.  You indeed have a legacy to cherish and to build on. Your mum, grand-mums and great-grand-mums are one of the strongest and determined persons I have met and I know the seed lives on in you. Yes, I did come to know them all and I see the foundation you have to lean on. You are Royalty both Spiritually and by Land Origin. 1 Pet 2:9 reminds me of your spiritual royalty and the knowledge that you are of the origin of men who have reigned as Kings in Nigeria both in Kogi and Ondo States. Therefore, let the words scribed above by the Queen of the Southern Nigerian Kingdom bring light to you today and for every other day. I was watching a movie during the past weekend and it showcased a Father who stood by his daughter even when the whole community were against her. I would like you to know that I would be by your side from Day 1 t...

It has been a while we had the movie night. We have some history with movie nights I must say. From the times in Akure, Lagos and now, Amstelveen.  Whenever we watch, it exciting. I enjoyed the action movies and then the love ones. I enjoy all of it anyway cos we watch together. the taking it back so you understand better is not so fun for me sha..me i have moved on in cases like that.....but anyways, i agree with you.......better to understand the context. When did we start watching movies together?   Before we got married I guess. I guess this was in Lagos before I took the job with BEDC. Not sure if we watched any on our own or always with Bukky and Busayo. But anyways..the history was formed. Cinemas. one thing I loved about Igbatoro, Akure was the Filmhouse Cinemas at the Akure Mall.  and then those cozy evening when we did nothing but watch a move together. Do you always stay up when we watch? Now I have to write that you might stay up with the first movie but...
