The Journey to 85 (Part 2)

Dont get it twisted. This is still 85kg. Not an age thingy. I woke up this morning to check my weight and it was 95kg on the dot.  This time I was happy. I was happy because i had hit 98.7kg some 4 weeks ago. I also decided to wear a particular shirt and it fit. Now that was something.  Have I been exercising? Or eating eight? The latter. No. The first, maybe. I stumbled on this by error. A friend triggered me to cycle to work and I did. Never mind that I had been saying I would do it as I see several people riding their bicycles all the way to Amsterdam. Anyways, I made the trip and I have been giddy about it since.  I have romanced the use of bus for over a year now that using the bike feels too sweet to use. I get to see other riders along the way and enjoy the view of Amstelveen and Amsterdam.  I should say it is also faster than using the bus sometimes especially if the first bus would be the 357. That takes 40mins for me in all. But with the bike. M...

The Vacation Idea

Kiity and I differ on this. What is a vacation? What is a retreat? Kiity made me think of retreat. To me, every time away from work is a vacation. This is my simple definition.  I recall when I was studying. The same definition applied. Anytime away from school is a vacation. When the school is not in session, we are on vacation. The same has applied to my work life.  But Kiity sees it differently. She had to google this and the AI overview gave the feedback below: A vacation is primarily for relaxation and fun, while a retreat focuses on personal growth, self-reflection, and often includes structured activities aimed at improving well-being Kiity is right by this definition. I have told her.  In my own world, it seems definitions are simple and when adhered to, makes my life simple. Where did all this come from? It came from a post Kiity made on Polarsteps about "our first Family Vacation". I looked at it and said we had done a lot of vacations in the past based o...

The Zambia trip! that did not happen

Why am I typing this after over 8 years? It has been in my draft all along. I never got to finishing the draft. Just like other items I would love to write on but currently not able to. We were to visit Zambia for our honeymoon in the month of January 2017. An all expense paid trip. But that did not happen as I opted to go back to work at BEDC.  I had got a mail that there would be a meeting for everyone to plan for the year and as giddy as I could be about work, I decided to resume for the year than have a jolly ride with my beautiful wife. Maybe it was because I worked directly with Mrs Kunbi who was the Regional Head, for two states under the BEDC area. Maybe not. I am unable to tell exactly right now. But one thing comes close to mind when I recall this. I would have loved to have gone. But anyway, I do not regret not going.  I hear Uncle Femi (Kiity's uncle) was not happy and probably still not happy. I say this as I found out in atrip that I made to Ghana in 202...

The Hyrox

We call it the bootcamp. For today, the activity is called the Hyrox.  As I type, I am yet to check the dictionary for the meaning of the word 'hyrox' to verify if it even exists. I think it should anyway. FYI- I will check after I finish scribbling.  In the picture above are my colleagues at Leaseweb. We had just gone through 35 minutes of some gruesome exercise. They appeared to be simple and light but as you had to do it repetitively, they become tasking and the pain keeps on coming. We do this once a week to encourage people to keep fit or rather create an avenue to exercise despite the bussle of the week. Focus today as on 6 activities and we had to do it in multiple rounds. You can fid the list below: 1. 1km run on the treadmill 2. Burpees  3. Row/Ski 4. Lunges 5. Sit ups  6. Farmer's Carry 7. 1km run on the treadmill. It is good the Coach was unable to spell my name correctly so I am unable to claim a position. But to make it easy for you, I did the least numb...
