Some call it a resignation.
I wrote a piece some months ago. You can find it here.
I have talked about how things have been with my present work and to be true, I have felt unexcited about the business since work began at Benin in 2014. It seems the only exciting thing was getting a new position and travelling.
Every change in position or department was a challenge. I was up to the task but when I got used to it, that was it. I got bored. You can say that is normal, and I do know that it is for some people. But after a few months at BEDC, I began to feel it.

There was no invention. Nothing to spice up. It felt rigid. Just the way things used to be. Once, I asked a technician/engineer about using an electrical machine for filling the oil in the transformer and he laughed at me, calling me a lazy guy. Oh, yea! I am that lazy. They used a manual mechanical process that required you to turn the knob in a circular motion till your joints ached. and you still had to continue. I told him an electrical one costs about 65,000 Naira (price as at 2015) and they laughed the more. I knew the management would probably not approve it. They paid them for their job, whether it took 40 hours to get it done, it didn't matter.
Going to Sapele in January 2016 (officially I had started on October 1, 2016) was a challenge and I was happy about the challenge till my department head was given a new position. We also had no major function anymore. I was resolving complaints at a time. I would have been happy doing it had it been the cases made some sense. The management had decided to alter the readings of customers with meters and had created a lot of mess. Though this was later resolved after 3 or 4 months, the impact was still there. I was tired. I wanted out
I prayed to God for a new role. I also wrote to the Head of HR about a new role and my prayers were answered in September 2016 when the Chief Corporate Service Officer was made the Regional Head of Ondo & Ekiti State. She called me about being her Technical Assistant (a role that involves data analysis). I jumped at the offer.
Going to Ondo & Ekiti States was another challenge. I rose to it. The office would be at Akure. I loved the idea of being in the South-West as I was to get married in less than two months in a town not too far from Akure. Ile-Ife, Osun State. I got to know a lot more about the power business in this role. Interfacing with the business managers, service managers, State Heads and the Managing Director. I was also in a meeting with the Governor of Ondo State, his deputy and other Senior public officers of the State. I got to learn about the billing process, market operator pricing, Cash collection in the regions, outstanding amounts yet to be collected, billing efficiencies, targets, Grid reading details, point loads, dealing with communities etc......and then it started again. Now it wasn't about any other role. I had related with the officers in the roles I was to look up to and I wasn't eager or interested in their positions. I wanted out.
When Mr Tunji (Training Coordinator) was to leave this February and I was asked to take up his role in addition to mine. I was agile once more.
But then........the end was near.
